About ‘As I venture toward the sun’:

I grew up reading short stories based the in South by Faulkner and Twain while nestled in rural Connecticut. This led me to imagine the South to be this Shakespearean-like country weighed down by heat and humidity. Upon arriving in Georgia, I immediately felt the weight of the air and started to remember what I could only envision in the midst of a Nor’easter. It’s only now, years later, that I could begin to photograph the stories I could only imagine.

While these photographs have been realized and found during my time in the South, figuratively, they have no metaphorical boundaries in where they lead or what they represent. Similar to the work of Faulkner and Twain, ideas and visions are embellished and fabricated; yet the truth remains.
