Every day, we go about our lives in a monotonous routine, unaware of the purpose behind our actions. We find ourselves trapped between excessive rationality and repetitive tasks, leading to a sense of detachment. A silent restlessness creeps into our days, leaving us restless. Where is the mistake? We are consumed by fabricated illusions that only serve to defeat us, leaving our fate in the hands of chance. The day comes to an end, only for the night to begin again. We refuse to accept our limitations, just as we struggle to accept ourselves. Every effort we make, every path we choose, inevitably brings us back to the starting point. Our desires crumble before us, and with a fixed gaze and a stifled cry, we helplessly wait for answers to our questions – yet no one listens. Regardless, we persistently pursue personal happiness, seeking trophies to display rather than experiences that nurture growth and improvement. It is an endless cycle – a self-cancelling motion that vanishes into nothingness. The night fades away, only for the day to start anew. In the face of limitless possibilities, we remain motionless – overwhelmed by light. However, we resist embracing it without expectations, succumbing to nausea instead. We find ourselves lost in an eternal night.
Our heartbeats become irregular, our body temperature fluctuates, and our muscles tense. Something unknown or unacknowledged clouds our thoughts, as our mind takes control. The day ends, and the night begins again. As we gaze upon the unchanging sky, we slowly notice the clouds dissipating. What we see now will soon fade away, leaving us with a sense of dizziness. Now, we are fully present and we ponder – did all of this truly exist? This is just the beginning, not the end.
Angelo Bonetti is a visual artist working with photography. He creates works that generate different contents, associations, and meanings that come into conflict somehow. Space becomes time and language becomes image.
