A nod to the traditional film processing technique—the project places “process” at its core. It celebrates the slow, deliberate rhythms of creation, honouring the tactile beauty of craftsmanship. In a world driven by instant results and disposable culture, this project pushes back against that urgency, emphasising the importance of time, skill, and material.

C41 presents The Making Of, a fashion editorial produced by students from Polimoda: Telia Multrier, Josephine Liem, Jindy Wang, and Yuetong Wang. The editorial was produced in the context of LEONE’s course as part of the Master in Fashion Art Direction at Polimoda. Polimoda represents high-level training in the fashion industry and is an internationally recognised centre of excellence, located in Florence, the heart of one of the most important production areas of Made in Italy.

Spotlighting four Polimoda designers—Beindy, Jadon, Sana, and Matilde—who unpack their individual creative processes through candid dialogue and raw creation. From the first sketch to the final stitch, it’s not about the finished product, but about the journey they take to get there. These designers remind us that sustainability isn’t just about the materials we use; it’s about the process we follow and the care we put into every step of creation. By embracing analog methods and returning to the basics, this project is a call to slow down, appreciate the process, and value the art of making something meaningful.

This is a rebellion against the disposable culture of today. By embracing the analog, the tactile, and the time-consuming, they are returning to what matters most—making something useful, something worth keeping. It’s a call to value not just the final product but the entire process, a reminder that true sustainability starts with a return to the basics: craft, care, and intention.
