This is an unpublished project premiered today on C41 Magazine.

Nicola Bianchi was born in 1992 in Rimini. He started shooting in 2010. He’s an art director and photographer working in the industry since 2015.

In most of his pictures, he looks for a visual tension induced by lines and shapes. He has always thought of his photography style as the interrelation between lines and surfaces, which he both finds very appealing. In each shot he tries to convey a wide spectrum of themes, such as separation, relationships, growth and evolution studying the interactions amongst different contexts.

About ‘Animal instinct’ – words by Nicola Bianchi:

“Animal instinct” is a series of images, each with its narrative, focusing on the primitive instinct inherited from our ancestors, here displayed as a succession of different perceptions on the theme.

Loneliness, anxiety, the daily uncertainty and the urge of being on the move every moment of our day are shaping our lives — from youthhood to the elder age, endlessly lost in a maze of urban connections and looking for a shelter.

The spectre of lives striving to find their place in a metropolis is full of complexity, and the photographer’s aim was catching them through an intersectional lens. Surreal and abstract scenes are the key to the project, where the feelings and imagination of the individual can and should influence the meaning of the pictures. The outcome is a dark visual narrative that tries to convey different aspects of life and introspection from both an individual and a universal perspective.
