Lonneke van der Palen (1985, NL) is a photographer who lives and works in Amsterdam. She graduated at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague.

Over the years she has been working for numerous fashion and design brands, such as Margiela and Hermes, magazines and creative agencies. Driven by everyday scenes, gestures, objects and people, she responds to the existing space in which she photographs. The act results in a carefully planned composition in which shape, color and light relate to each other.

About ‘Gone South and Trash Treasures’ – words by ‘Lonneke van der Palen’:

With the seemingly motionless setting sun tracing the outlines of a distant landscape, photographer Lonneke van der Palen wanders into an uncanny world. A pink house in a street full of white walls. Bright plastic bags dancing in the air. A lonely shopping cart in the middle of an empty parking lot. Being specialized in revealing the vibrant aesthetic of even the most mundane scenes, they are a source of renewed amazement to her. While straying from the highlighted route, she sees a mirage of found objects waiting to be photographed.
