About ‘I Climbed a Mountain Once’ – words by Josephine Jatzlau:
The ongoing series is about mountains as motif and symbol of romanticism. During that period, achievements of individualists and artists were highly valued and a central part of this movement. Being alone and surrounded by nature was a widespread interest. Therefore the climb of a mountain was rather an actual act than a metaphor quoted in paintings. This series is a photographic approach a continuous interest in mountains as a place of physical accomplishments, self-discovery – As a sanctuary. Where architectural interventions dominate natural landscapes and play a big part in the current perception of ‘the mountain’.
